The Perks of Serving an SME
Being in a small medium enterprise for just 5 days made me reminisce those months of internship I had a couple of years ago.
And it certainly got me thinking... about my career goals and development...
It's fun working in an SME, considering the fact that it's a place where:
(in random order)
1. Everyone knows everyone VS.
(You attend meetings in MNCs with strangers)
2. The environment's laidback, you get to work at your own pace and in peace VS.
(Work pace is stressful in large corps and you struggle to keep up)
3. You know the place like the back of your hand VS.
(You don't even know where the Finance department is)
4. You can find documents with your eyes closed VS.
(You're brainwashed and threatened to keep docs P&C)
5. No shift pattern work is practised VS.
(Working graveyard hrs upsets your biological clock)
6. Minimal office politics VS.
(You don't even know who intentionally put you in hot soup)
7. You know the workflow indelibly that you're rewarded with more work VS.
(The learning curve gets steeper and steeper and there's no stop to it)
And after a while, you just become a subject matter expert! Yep, an SME for an SME!
Hmm... it really isnt too bad at all serving an SME, aint it!
With all that said, -coming back to reality- I should just be thankful I have a job. :D
But then again...
Comments of any sort for this post is very much welcomed. ;)
